How the canteen service works

Lunch for Nursery, 1 and 2 Primary classes (about 275 pupils):

For pupils in the Nursery, P1 and P2 the service is organized on TUESDAY and THURSDAY; pupils will be accompanied by their teachers to the canteen in a time-staggered mode from 11.15 to 11.40 am. Every class has an assigned table where trays will have been prepared with plates, cutlery, bread and fruit (or dessert). Pupils will be served with a set menu comprising a first and a second course, a side dish, fruit or dessert; milk will be served by the teachers to pupils who request it.

On long days we advise parents to give children only a small morning snack in order to ensure their appetite for lunch.

Lunch classes 3 – 4 – 5 Primary 8 (about 275 pupils):

For pupils in grades P3, P4 and P5 the service operates on MONDAY, TUESDAY and THURSDAY; pupils will be accompanied by their teachers to the canteen in a time-staggered mode from 11.45 to 12.05 am and will have access to a self-service arrangement. If arrival times are observed, each class will have only one or two classes ahead in the queue. Pupils may choose a first and a second course along with vegetables, bread, fruit (or dessert), in accordance with the guidelines for a balanced menu that ATS-Insubria recommends, and water will be already on the tables.

On long days we advise parents to give children only a small morning snack in order to ensure their appetite for lunch.

In order to prepare pupils in classes P3, 4 and 5 for the Secondary School they are asked to return their trays at the end of the meal, to the “tray trolleys” and the empty bottles in the appropriate boxes.

Secondary School lunch:

The canteen is open 5 days a week; students in classes S1, S2 and S3 have 3 long days, while those of the classes S4, S5, S6 and S7 stay at school also on Friday afternoons.

Generally speaking the first self-service line opens at 12:15, while the second line opens at 12.40.

At the beginning of the school year, owing to the lack of exit permits and the presence of all teachers, queues are very long; we recommend that students of S4-5-6-7 who have a free period in 5th hour come to the Canteen  at 12.15,  students of S1-2-3 need the permission of the pedagogical advisor if they want to come at 12.15. In alternative students can take a break before entering  the Canteen, because at 13:15 the queues are much reduced in length.

According to ATS-Insubria directives a balanced meal is composed of a first course, a second course, cooked or raw vegetables, bread and fruit (or yogurt or pudding). On request students can have a larger portion of pasta.

Students must present the badge at the central desk in order to pay for their meal.

At the end of the meal, trays should be placed in the appropriate trolleys and empty bottles in the appropriate boxes, in order to leave the tables clean for other users.

Given the numerous sporting, musical and educational activities during the break, students can order a picnic for the same price as a meal as an alternative to the canteen service; packed lunches, available for all pupils and teachers, must be ordered at the office at least one day in advance before 11:20 AM or by email at least 1 day in advance by 08.30 a.m and can be collected at the picnic desk with no need to queue.

  • A packed lunch has to be reserved at least 1 day in advance by 11.20 a.m.  at the COMSEV office or
  • by email at least 1 day in advance by 08.30 a.m.
